On 20 April 2020, the Supreme Committee tasked with tackling the developments of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic extended the lockdown of Muscat Governorate, imposed on 10 April 2020, through Command and Control Checkpoints, until 10 am on Friday, the 8th of May 2020 (See Announcement).
Employers should educate their employees about the general prevention and containment measures of COVID-19, including maintaining hygienic practices, social distancing, and avoiding crowded areas (See Public Health Instructions). Private sector establishments must undertake necessary measures to cut down the number of employees to the minimum, just enough to sustain the performance of the private sector’s basic tasks and ensure that these tasks are not affected by the downsizing of employee numbers. Employers must also ensure maximum abidance by employees with the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease (See Measures).
Employers are required to intensify these efforts during the month of Ramadan (See Guidelines).
