RegScan Wins Business Achievement Award

WILLIAMSPORT, PA (Jan. 24, 2013) — RegScan, Inc. is proud to announce that it has received an Environmental Business Journal Business Achievement Award for Technology Merit. It is the second time in as many years, and the third time in four years, that RegScan has been honored.

Award winners were announced earlier this month. RegScan was honored for Information Technology achievement for its expansion of the IPAA Environmental Compliance System, a joint venture with the Independent Petroleum Association of America.

What was first launched in October 2011 as a Pennsylvania-specific product has now been expanded into a complete line of suites covering 10 states in every major U.S. shale play. National coverage includes modules for the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The EPA Module was first announced in June 2012, in response to the approval of the first-ever National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) that specifically targeted the natural gas industry. Within a month it was integrated into all of the existing suites. RegScan also made the EPA module available as a stand-alone product to augment coverage in jurisdictions where comprehensive state suites were not available.

“I am extremely grateful that a respected resource like the Environmental Business Journal has again honored RegScan with this award,” said Ned Ertel, President and C.E.O. “Our innovative technology sets us apart from our competitors, and our partners at IPAA have the expertise to ensure we’re providing one of the most unique and complete regulatory guides on the market.”

The IPAA Environmental Compliance System is a one-of-a-kind online regulatory compliance tracking system for oil and gas operators. The product is based on RegScan’s Socrates Project and Task Management technology, and it chronologically outlines all the regulatory requirements for oil and gas development.

The system is fully integrated with the RegScan GCS 2.0 research databases, which contain volumes of state and federal regulations. The databases are continuously updated, so the most current information is always available.

WILLIAMSPORT, PA (January 15, 2013) — RegScan, Inc., a Williamsport, Pa.-based compliance management company, proudly announces its expansion into the health care market with the release of RegScan for Health Care.

Employing the same technology that made RegScan a compliance management leader in the environmental sector, RegScan for Health Care can track every single change to health care regulations – just in time for the full implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The “Obamacare,” legislation, as it is commonly known, brings with it sweeping regulatory change at both the Federal and State levels. New rules are enacted every single day, so providers and practitioners need help staying in front of them.

“Health care reform will impact everyone in the industry, from insurers to providers to regulators,” said Ned Ertel, President and C.E.O. of RegScan. “Our state-of-the-art technology, which we’ve been perfecting since 1987, can ensure that you will never miss a change.”

RegScan catalogs all 50 titles of the Code of Federal Regulations, and health care regulations for all 50 states – all in fully searchable online databases. Its alert systems are some of the best on the market today. These exclusive tools allow users to create highly customized content tailored to fit their needs.

Using LookOut and My WatchList, RegScan’s easy-to-customize monitoring tools, RegScan for Health Care subscribers can track all final and proposed regulations. Databases are current-to-the-day, so users never need to worry that their information is out-of-date.

All regulatory content is contained within the RegScan GCS (Global Compliance Solutions) 2.0 system, so there is no need to link to third party sources. RegScan's Checkpoint® Pennsylvania Audit Protocols Covering Marcellus Shale Now Shipping

In announcing the availability of the CheckPoint® Pennsylvania Audit Protocols Covering Marcellus Shale Ned Ertel, President and CEO of RegScan, said “On February 5th, The Pennsylvania Environmental Quality Board issued the most significant regulations for oil and gas wells in 22 years. I am pleased to announce that in response to these updated regulations RegScan, Inc., a Williamsport based company, is releasing a set of enhanced environmental audit protocols. This is the only product that is specifically designed for producers, suppliers, and drillers operating in the Marcellus Shale formation.”

State Representative Rick Mirabito D-83 Lycoming County also present at the announcement said “RegScan’s development of the CheckPoint® Pennsylvania Audit Protocols is an example of the innovation coming out of small companies in central PA. As this product matures and grows, RegScan is planning on adding more jobs here in Williamsport.” Mirabito continued to say, “These audit protocols are designed to help the companies working in the Marcellus Shale comply with the new environmental regulations. Properly constructed and operated oil and gas wells are critical to protecting water supplies and public safety. Some examples of the new changes include the specification of blowout preventers, the need for an on-site certified well control individual, and revisions to the reporting requirements for chemicals used to hydraulically fracture a well.”

The Checkpoint® Pennsylvania Audit Protocols consist of eight checklists with over 1,000 questions.  The questions are designed so that a user can select only the questions that pertain to their operations.  Currently, the Checkpoint system is used to audit 40% of all U.S. oil refineries for environmental, health, and safety compliance.

Ned Ertel also said, “10-days ago these final rules were issued changing 20 sections of regulations and adding 6 brand new sections, yet we are now shipping a fully updated version. It is a testament to the work ethic of our staff and the importance we place on getting a tool ready as rapidly as possible for industry to use.”
